Submarine- After Viewing

Submarine makes very extensive use of voiceover.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IVFfiv6wpY

What effects do you think are achieved by having Oliver speak directly to the audience through voiceover?
Having the main character doing the voiceovers is really good because from that its already very different to many films who have a random person doing the voiceovers. It will definatly help gain the audience's attention because they would be getting much more closer to Oliver than of he never done the voiceovers and we just saw what was on screen. Having Oliver do them shows the audience  what he really thinks about whats going on in his life, and he gets to tell us himself what is going on in his life and in his mind.

Do you think there is a gap between what Oliver says about himself and the reality that we see on screen? If so, what effects does this create.
No, i personally dont think that there is a gap between what Oliver says about himself to what the audeince see on screen because  he is very open about his life in the film. It engages us as he tells us things through voiceover and then he does it on screen/ tries to do it on screen.
But if there was gap between Oliver doing voiceover then what the aduience see on screen then that would effect the audience because they would be confused about the 2 different things that Oliver has been saying.

What sort of feeling and impact can music videos have and what effect could a music video style sequence achieve in a film?-Music videos can be very effective because they show the meaning of what the song and the lyrics to it is actually about. Music videos have a big impact on movies as they show the expressions between each scene and the songs played meanwhile. The music in the music video style sequence can reflect the emotion of whats going on, on the screen and it also adds atmosphere.

Can you think of other films which feature extended montage sequences that are quite like music videos? -Angus Thongs & Perfect Snogging also has music as a big part throughout the film. The ending of the trailer to this film shows some features that music videos could possibly have.

Ayoade's Music Videos
Arctic Monkeys- Fluorescent Adolescent
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma9I9VBKPiw&ob=av2e

This video could be cinematic as it shows a similar theme to a high speed action scene from a film. It also suggests that the scene from the movie would be scary because clowns have been used and clowns are seen as scary things.

Vampire Weekend- Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wHl9qRsMzw&ob=av2e

This video has some cinematic features which tell us a story as there is a girl who we think has a boyfriend and whilst there is a party going on her 'boyfriend' is singing a song for another girl. This could eaily be seen as a scene from a romantic film. But then the whole scenery changes as it gets all scary and frightning and theres fire and alot of black and candles;hence another scene but from a different tyoe of horror film.

Kasabians- Vlad The Impaler
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM5YDI7ttME
There are some similarities of themes in this music video of diffrerent scenes from a horror/scary film. This is mostly all set out in low key lighting which puts the 'frightning' effect on it.

Trailer For Submarine.
Do you see any similarities in terms of visual style? Can you identify any stylistic or thematic motifs across these texts?

MARKETING IDEAS FOR 'INKED'

Marketing Ideas For 'INKED'.
From all the research i have gained, we decided that we should create a poster for our film which would attract our main audience being teenagers; as these could go near schools and places they would habg out. We also decided to create a Twitter page for our main character Lily as we will be using this in the film.

Twitter- We decided to make a twitter account instead of a facebook one because it would gain alot of different audiences around the world. Throughout the film we will be using Lily's twitter account to get her feelings across to the audience because for facebook she would've had to keep updating her status whereas for twitter she can say what she feels whenever. This would also be really good because instead of having a boring old diary where Lily writes about everything she can just tweet it instead.

This shows the sign up for Lily's account that we shall be using in the film.

Marketing of Films.

How  films are marketed to people depends on their target audience. Marketing is a very big key into getting people to go and spend money by watching it in the cinemas becuase its a way of 'selling the product.'

Smurfs Movie (2011);
This was an animated film based on the comic book 'The Smurfs'. The main target audience was children aged 6 and above. This was given a rating U to show that even parents werent needed to acompnay their children. They marketed the film in many ways from the movie trailers to posters to the use of tv adverts with the connection with fast food restraunts for example McDonalds. As this was a kids based film McDonalds decided to give out little stuff toys on eevry happy meal, which would of made the kids more attracted to the film and then would've made their parents go and make them watch the film.

Sixty Six (2006);
This is a film which has a main target audience of teenagers, as the main character is a child himself.  This was given a 12 rating (in the uk) for its language and breif nudity. This marketed itself very well by having posters of it every where promoting it self. The poster itself shows the main chararcter and his parents; whilst Bearnie is holding a football which has 'it was bearnies BIG DAY, but there was little competititon'' As he is holding a football it shows that it had something to do with a football final. By doing this they would have also targeted at football lovers becuase they would have a feeling that this film would be for them.

Juno (2007);
This film had a target audience of teenagers up to young adults. The rate for this was 12A becuase of its language. As it was targeted at this age group the producers decided to make a official website ( http://www.foxsearchlight.com/juno/ ) that was all to do with the film because they knew that they would be able to go on it and engage with the characters.
